The Chinese yuan (CNY) is the modern currency of China. One Chinese yuan is equal to 100 fens or 10 chiaos. The banknote denominations in circulation are 100, 50, 20, 10, 5 and one yuan. In October 2013, the Chinese yuan became the second most popular currency used in the world trade surpassing the euro.

Traditionally, on the front side of all the Chinese yuan banknotes there is a portrait of Mao Zedong. There is also an orchid together with the portrait — that is one yuan, a daffodil for 5 yuan, a rose for 10 yuan, a lotus for 20 yuan, a chrysanthemum for 50 yuan and a Japanese plum for 100 yuan. The reverse side of all the notes is adorned by the landscapes of China.
