The Danish krone (DKK) is the national currency of Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. One Danish krone is equal to 100 øre.
The existing banknote denominations in circulation are 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1 000 kroner and the coins are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 kroner and 50 øre.
The main theme of the images on banknotes is Danish bridges and some valuable archaeological finds in the territory of the Kingdom of Denmark. The 50 krone note depicts Sallingsund Bridge, the reverse side depicts a vessel of the Stone Age. The 100 krone note pictures Lillebeltsbro Bridge (Little Belt Bridge), the reverse side depicts Hindsgavl dagger. The 200 krone note has an illustration of Knippelsbro and an image of the belt buckle of the Bronze Age. On the 500 krone note there is eminent Queen Alexandrine Bridge which connects the nearby islands of Zealand and Møn, and an ancient bronze pail. On the 1 000 krone note there is an image of one of the longest bridges in the world — Great Belt Bridge, and the work of art of the Bronze Age — the sculpture «Trundholm Sun Chariot».
